6 Reasons to Add an Eye Cream to Your Skincare Routine

Should I add an eye cream to my skincare routine?

You may have seen the buzz about our recent launch of Eye-Luminate Gel Cream, our first product formulated specifically for the delicate skin around your eyes.  Perhaps you're wondering if you should add an eye cream to your skincare routine.  In short, yes!  The New Yorker in us likes to get straight to the point.

There are many reasons to add an eye cream to your skincare routine, but we’ve got six in particular, that we think are worth considering.

While you’re likely already using facial moisturizers and serums, eye creams and gels are formulated specifically for the delicate skin around your eyes.  This area tends to be more prone to dryness, and quicker to show signs of fatigue.

If you’re spending any time around screens (and who isn’t?)-- whether it’s scrolling Instagram or joining a zoom call, or simply trying to zone out with a book in the evening -- you may find that squinting and even normal eye movement are bringing on the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, or puffiness and dark circles.  The muscles around our eyes are some of the hardest working in our bodies.  So it makes sense that the skin protecting them need extra care and attention.

No eye cream can cure stress or eliminate our dependency on iPhones, but they can help treat and remedy some of these issues.  Let’s get into it!

6 REASONS TO ADD EYE CREAM TO YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE

DIMINISH THE APPEARANCE OF FINE LINES, WRINKLES, PUFFINESS, AND DARK CIRCLES

Sun damage, free radical exposure, environmental stressors, and the slow down in collagen production as we age are key factors in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles.  We’ve packed Eye-Luminate with peptides to increase collagen generation and hyaluronic acid and plum oil for smoothing and hydration.  Mallow protects against free radicals and green coffee can reduce inflammation and increase blood circulation in the area.

THE RIGHT KIND OF HYDRATION

There is a reason eye creams and gels feel thicker than the moisturizers you’re using on the rest of your face.  Eye-Luminate, in particular, is packed with highly concentrated, carefully sourced ingredients such as Resurrection and hyaluronic acid, which were selected specifically for that delicate, thin skin around our eyes.

BRIGHTEN AND EVEN OUT SKIN TONE

Licorice, one of three farm-to-product ingredients in Eye-Luminate, has been shown to brighten skin and help even out overall tone.

PRIME YOUR SKIN FOR PERFECT MAKEUP APPLICATION

Eye creams and gels are great for plumping and firming skin, which may lead to a more even application of makeup such as under eye concealer and foundation.  We love reapplying our Eye-Luminate over makeup, as needed, to smooth out any crepeing or caking.

PROTECT FRAGILE UNDER EYE SKIN

We believe in both treatment and prevention, so our products are all formulated to both remedy issues such as dryness or irritation, while also protecting against future concerns.  For this reason, we’ve included mallow, which has been shown to protect against free radicals.

SOOTHE STRESSED EYES

We’re treating tired eyes with nourishing ingredients like plum oil, jojoba oil, and evening primrose oil.   We’ve omitted essential oils from our formulation to prevent irritation.  We love keeping Eye-Luminate refrigerated for added cooling and soothing (this can also help diminish puffiness).

Have we convinced you?  Check back for future posts in this series, where we’ll talk about how to fit eye cream into your skincare routine and when to start.
